The admission process for 2023 is as follows:

School of Engineering

Route 1: JEE Mains 2022 or 2023: High performers may be offered direct admissions based on their JEE (Mains) score in 2023 or 2023. Shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview.

Route 2: SNUSAT + APT

Route 3: College Board SAT + Interview* - The candidates can apply with their SAT score

Route 4: ACT + Interview* - The candidates can apply with their ACT score

School of Natural Sciences

Route 1: JEE Mains 2022 or 2023 + Interview*

The cut off scores in all routes will be decided by the university.

  • The candidates can apply through multiple routes in the same application form
  • The SNUSAT will be available in physical mode only, in designated test centers identified by Pearson Vue. Online examinations will be available only for reasons of medical need or significant logistical issues or for students in boarding schools
  • Interviews of shortlisted candidates will be conducted online
  • Shortlisted candidates will be informed regarding the online interview with their respective department

SNUSAT and APT

For 2023, only the School of Engineering will use both SNUSAT and APT. If you are applying to any other School, you do not need to take the APT.

The SNUSAT measures proficiency in a language, the ability to apply the mind to simple problems, data interpretation, and logical and abstract reasoning. The APT tests subject knowledge.

1. SNU Scholastic Aptitude Test (SNUSAT) for 2 hours (Same for all Programs)

2. Academic Proficiency Test (APT): If you are applying to any program in the School of Engineering, you are required to take two subject tests in Physics and Maths (45 minutes each)



All questions except the SNUSAT Essay and will be multiple choice. There is no negative marking.

SNUSAT Essay will have to be typed on the computer, within the stipulated time.

We receive applications from many different Boards from across India. To even out the differences between the various Boards of Examinations, we normalize the scores obtained in Class XII. We believe this provides a fairer assessment of all our applicants from different parts of the country.

Did you know: While students are admitted to a specific program, the University offers you the flexibility to transfer to another program/school in the University after completing your first year in the program you are initially admitted to. Of course, this is subject to university policies governing such transfers.

Wherever the class 12th results are not available with the applicant under the international (including OCI/PIO)/NRI category, such candidates shall be offered provisional admission subject to their fulfilling other requirements and qualifying all the stages of the admission process. Provisional admission shall be confirmed only after the student successfully qualifies the 12th examination.
